Valid passport with at least two blank pages

Letter from your employer confirming your employment / contract as well as confirmation of leave
 Accommodation
Confirmed hotel booking(s) i.e. Reservations or

 Sufficient funds
Three months bank account statements, term deposit statements or tax papers as proof of sufficient funds.
 Previous visas
Proof of previous trips to the Shengen states


Notes from the Embassy of Germany

Appointment in person
Applicants must go to the Embassy in Pretoria, unless they can proof that they traveled to the Schengen states within the past two years
Financially Challenged
If you're not paying for the trip, a formal letter of obligation from the invitee in Germany issued by the authority in the city where the invitee lives is required
Non-SA citizen
If not a South African national, a residence permit must be valid for a period of at least 3 months after intended stay in the Schengen states
